My Experience With Sexual Harassment In Nollywood Tomisin Oderinde

My Experience With Sexual Harassment In Nollywood Tomisin Oderinde – Nollywood Actress, Oluwatomisin Oderinde is one of the actresses and producers in Yoruba movie circles that puts a premium on hard work even if the talent is there. The actor who has produced five movies of her own shared her experience with sexual harassment in the movie industry.

The suave actress noted that it borders more on directors or men on set, taking advantage of the vulnerability of young and desperate women who want to make appearances or be famous as an actress. “If i say I have never experienced it i would be lying but mine didn’t come before the role, mine came on set where by a bigger actor or some crew members will tell you to go sleep in the actors room overnight or their own room but i have never been forced.

They say it and I lash out at them. I have a very bad mouth and I can give polite insults and I will leave the set. I don’t go to all locations and that helped me a little too cos if you are not desperate to get there, you won’t meet with those desperados. I am taking a step at a time and focusing majorly on my own productions. I go to other people’s location too but then it’s strictly on filming thing and when I am done, I go back home, no room for shenanigans, “ says Tomisin.

About her latest movie, “OJIJI OKAN’ the mother of two said, “The movie was written for me by a story writer and it’s about a lady named Wura whose parents were killed by her supposed brother in-law. She was supposed to be married to the younger brother to the one who was hired by her uncle to kill her parent. This scenario poses a dilemma for WURA. Would she continue with that kind of relationship or not,? “Ojiji Okan” is a suspense filled movie laced with love, revenge and the role destiny play in people’s lives.”

Other productions she has done include: Stalker (2018), Iso inu eku (2019), Fifehanmi (2021) and Above the law released in 2021. She noted she has featured in scores of other productions by others.

Having been in the industry for nine years, Tomisin said she ventured into the make believe industry because of her passion. “I have been part of school play lets way back in Primary and Secondary school days. So acting for me is in born. Growing up, I told my parents that this is what I would like to study in the University but they kicked against it and I read something else. Now they are in full support,” she stated.

Tominsin who is also into otter businesses, says veteran actress, Sola Sobowale and versatile actor and producer, Toyin Aimakhu Adeyemi are personalities she looks up to in her Yoruba movie circles.
